Canterbury Cathedral has been witness to the passing of centuries and, of course, the famous martyrdom of Thomas Becket. The Schools Department can help bring its history to life.
We offer visiting teachers and school children materials to help them interpret the building and learn more from their visit.

- support for teachers to devise their own relevant activities and learning materials
- activities for Church Youth Groups
- project room: this provides kinaesthetic activities relating to the building of the Cathedral and the monks who lived here. Children can practise stone carving, writing with a quill pen, brass rubbing and much more (most suitable for year groups Y2 - Y6)
- Costume trails: role play experiences in which children dress up as characters in the history of the Cathedral. Topics include St Augustine, Thomas Becket, Medieval Monks and Tudor Times
